After losing against Pakistan, India took on Sri Lanka on 6 September 2022 in a must-win encounter in the ongoing Asia Cup. However, Sri Lanka was coming off a win over Afghanistan. Hence, they were looking to seal their place in the finals by winning this match. 

Speaking of the match, Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss. He asked India to bat first. In this match, Deepak Hooda got a chance to bat in the middle order. However, he got out on a slower bouncer from Shanaka. But, the umpire denied to give him out as he got a lifeline. The video went viral all over the internet.

Deepak Hooda scored only three runs as India scored 173 runs against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2022

Speaking of the video, Shanaka came to bowl the 18th over of the match. In the fourth delivery of that over, he bowled a bouncer which Hooda tried to uppercut. But, he ended up providing a dolly to Maheesh Theekshana at short third man. He started to walk to the dressing room and Sri Lankan players were looking to celebrate. 

But, on-field umpires tried to check with the third umpire if the ball was over the shoulders of the batter. After checking several times, finally, umpires decided to give that a no-ball, and Hooda survived. But, it did not create many issues for Sri Lanka as Hooda scored only three runs off four balls.

Speaking of the match, KL Rahul failed again in this match while he came out to open with Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli scored a four-ball duck after two consecutive fifty-plus scores. But, Rohit Sharma finally played a knock of 72 runs off 41 balls. He scored those runs at a strike rate of 175.60, including five fours and four sixes. No other batters scored many runs as India scored 173 runs in 20 overs by losing eight wickets. Only Suryakumar Yadav scored 34 runs off 29 balls, including one four and one six.
