The ongoing Boxing Day Test between Australia and South Africa is also a tribute to Late Shane Warne. The former Australian leggie died on March 4 this year due to Asthma in Thailand. His death came as shocking news for the fans as he was 52 years old at the time. The all-time second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket was on vacation when his friends found him dead.

A while after his death, one of the stands at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was named after the 1999 World Cup winner. Meanwhile, in the ongoing second Test, the announcer urged the fans to give a standing ovation to the legend. The fans responded quickly and stood up to give a round of applause for Warne. The MCG is his home ground.

Talking about the game, the Pat Cummins-led side won the toss and decided to bowl first. The decision proved right as the bowlers took five wickets for just 67 runs. The visitors’ top order once again disappointed their team and its fans with Dean Elgar (26), Sarel Erwee (18), Theunis de Bruyn (12), skipper Temba Bavuma (1), and Khaya Zondo (5) getting out cheaply. At 67/5, the team looked like getting out cheaply once again in the series.

Not to forget, the team’s scores in the last game were 152 and 99 all-out. However, the likes of Marco Jansen and Kyle Verrynne stitched a partnership of 112 runs to provide some stability. Both batters scored half-centuries each. However, after the wicket of Kyle, the World Number Four Test side lost three more quick wickets. They are tottering at 186/8 with Keshav Maharaj batting at the crease. At the time of writing, the team lost the wicket of Kagiso Rabada.

Now, the next batter will be either Lungi Ngidi or Anrich Nortje. The umpires have called for a drinks break and once again, the World’s Number One Test side, Australia is in the ascendency of the game.
