Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh continues to trouble the batters even after his retirement from international cricket. He bowled a magical delivery to dismiss the Universe Boss Chris Gayle in a Legends League Cricket match between India Maharajas and World Giants in Doha on Saturday.

Harbhajan’s delivery was very much evocative of the Australian legend Shane Warne’s ‘Ball of the Century’ in the 1992 Ashes to dismiss Mike Gatting. Harbhajan bowled around Gayle’s legs and the Caribbean legend tried to paddle the ball around but was too late as the ball hit the leg stumps. He got out for 4 runs off six balls.

Gayle couldn’t figure out what just happened to him, and even Harbhajan was also in disbelief with the way the ball turned and crashed into the stumps. Wicketkeeper Robin Uthappa also jumped with joy after the wicket and went on to congratulate the bowler for the unplayable delivery.

India Maharaja got their second consecutive defeat

Talking about the match, India Maharajas suffered their second consecutive defeat in the tournament after they lose to World Giants by just 2 runs. The Giants scored 166 in their 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Skipper Aaron Finch and Shane Watson were the only batters who could make an impact for them. The former Australian pair added 88 runs for the second wicket. Finch scored 53 runs off 31 balls hitting seven fours and three sixes, while Watson got out after scoring 55 off 32 including five fours and three sixes. Apart from them, only Tino Best (13 off 17) could reach the double figures as the Giants lost regular wickets in the middle overs.

For Maharajas, Harbhajan Singh scalped 4 wickets by bowling just two overs and conceding 13 runs. Meanwhile Pravin Tambe took the wickets of both the top scorers (Finch and Watson). While Irfan Pathan sent Jacques Kallis back to the pavilion.

Coming to chase the winning total, India got a flying start as the skipper Gautam Gambhir and Uthappa added 65 runs for the first wickets. Uthappa scored 29 off 21, while Gambhir got out after scoring 68 off 42 balls including nine fours and a maximum. Even after a great start, the Maharaja couldn’t go past the Giants total as they were restricted to 164 runs for the loss of five wickets.

Former West Indian Ricardo Powell took 2 wickets for the World Giants conceding 16 runs in his three overs. While Brett Lee, Tino Best, and Chriis Mpofu shared a wicket each.
