England won the toss and elected to bowl first against Pakistan in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022 final. The decision proved right as they restricted the 2009 winners to 137/8 at the end of the first innings. For the 2010 winners, Sam Curran took three wickets. On the other hand, Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan took two each while Ben Stokes took one. Defending a low total, Pakistan has fought back well with the ball.

Shaheen Afridi took the wicket of Alex Hales on the last ball of the first over In the fourth over, Haris Rauf took the wicket of Phil Salt. The former came on to bowl his second over and took out England skipper Jos Buttler with a pacy outswinger. In the last over of the powerplay, Rauf managed to get the outside edge of Buttler’s bat.

England needs 41 runs in the last over to claim the title

Meanwhile, coming to the game, the Three Lions need 41 runs in the last five overs to win the game at the time of writing. Pakistan’s lead pacer, Shaheen Afridi came to bowl the 16th over but could only bowl the first ball after coming back from the injury. Notably, he sustained the knee injury while taking the catch of Harry Brook at long-off.

After Afridi pulled out, the former champions took the advantage of the situation. On the last two balls of the over, Stokes scored 10 runs to bring the equation to 28 runs needed off 24 balls. In the 17th over, Moeen Ali joined his partner with two back-to-back fours against Mohammad Wasim Jr. With 20 runs needed in 22 balls, England looks favorites to win the title. The England fans will be hoping for Ben Stokes to pull off what he did in the 2019 ODI World Cup final.
