India suffered a heavy defeat against Australia in the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Aussies made a great comeback in Indore after losing the first two Test in Nagpur and Delhi, respectively. Despite India’s loss, an instance during the first session of the third day caught the attention of the fans.

Australia were coming to chase 76 runs on day three and during the sixth over of the inning, Indian fielder Shreyas Iyer was caught on the stump mic while sledging the Australian batter, Travis Head. Ravindra Jadeja was about to bowl the first ball when Iyer said, “Iska ek pair Chandigarh mein, dusra Haryana mein (His one leg is in Chandigarh and the other in Haryana)”. Head, who couldn’t make out what the Indian fielder said, remained calm at the crease and was ready to face the ball.

The Aussie batter went on to score unbeaten 49 runs off 53 balls as the visitors secured a nine-wicket victory qualifying for the Test Championship final. On the other hand, India’s chances still depend on the result of the fourth Test and the series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

Nathan Lyon scalped 8 wickets in the second inning

Indian batters seemed to struggle against the spin as the hosts were bowled out for 109 in the first and 163 runs in the second innings. Cheteshwar Pujara held the nerves in the second inning as he scores 59 off 142 balls. Other than Pujara, none of the Indian batters could do something remarkable. Matthew Kuhnemann took a five-wicket haul in the first inning, while in the second innings, Nathan Lyon destroyed the Indian batting lineup taking 8 wickets for 64 runs. Lyon was adjudged player of the match for his match-winning performance.

India are still leading in a four-match series by 2-1, and they will be looking to win the series and qualify for the WTC final after winning the fourth Test. The final Test of the series will start on February 9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
