New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is one of the most honest players on the field. ever once he cheated in the game. Also, not to forget how gracefully he accepted the 2019 ODI World Cup final defeat. However, in the ongoing Super 12 game of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 against England, he was different for a moment or two. During the Three Lions’ innings, he claimed a false catch.

The incident happened in the last over of the powerplay. The over was bowled by Mitchell Santner. Jos Buttler tried to play an upper cut over the cover fielders. However, he couldn’t get the timing right and Williamson dived to reach the ball. At this moment, it felt like Buttler’s inning was over. However, the replays confirmed that the ball came out of his hands. Notably, Williamson had claimed the catch

Talking about the game, England skipper Jos Buttler and Alex Hales provided a great start to their side in the must-win game. They put together 81 runs for the first wicket. Hales scored 52 off 40 balls before being stumped by Devon Conway off Mitchell Santner. On the other hand, Buttler scored 73 off 47 balls before being run0out in the penultimate over of the innings. The 2010 winner amassed 179/6 although they might have scored more.

In the last few overs, the 2021 finalists bowled well. In reply, the Blackcaps lost their openers, Finn Allen, and Conway. At 28/2, the likes of skipper Williamson and Glenn Phillips put together 89 runs for the third wicket. However, since the former’s wicket, the team haslost three more and are struggling at 142/6 in 18.2 overs, needing 38 off just 10 balls. With Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi batting at the crease and are not set yet, the writing is on the wall.
