MS Dhoni to bid goodbye post-Indian T20 League 2023?

As things stand, the 2011 World Cup winning-captain might reportedly bid goodbye to all forms of cricket and further, there are reports claiming that the Indian superstar might join the Men in Blue team management to reduce the burden of head coach Rahul Dravid.

With the Indian T20 League mini-auction set to take place on December 23 in Kochi, the Chennai franchise would hope to rope in the right person who could replace Dhoni as the captain from the next edition. With Kane Williamson out of the Hyderabad franchise, it is highly likely that the team would go all out for the Kiwi star.

However, it remains to see if the Chennai team would target the star England allrounder Sam Curran and Ben Stokes in the auction as they have a money purse of around INR 20 crore. While the franchise released Adam Milne, and veteran Dwayne Bravo ahead of the mini-auction, Dhoni’s men retained the likes of Devon Conway, Dwaine Pretorius and Sri Lanka spinner Maheesh Theekshana.

With only 2 overseas slots left, Chennai would hope to bring in the right players, and find the right balance, in order to turn things around from the previous edition of the Indian T20 League. For the unversed, the Chennai franchise ended up in 9th place with only 4 wins out of the 14 matches that they played.
