On 11 September 2022, the stage was set for Pakistan and Sri Lanka for the final of the Asia Cup 2022. However, in the last match of the ‘Super Four’ stage, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan easily. Hence, Pakistan was looking to do well in the final to win the prestigious tournament. On the other hand, Sri Lanka was enjoying the momentum of winning four straight matches.

Therefore, fans were expecting a fantastic encounter between the teams in the final. Pakistan won the toss and they asked Sri Lanka to bat first. However, in the first over, Naseem Shah took the wicket of Kusal Mendis with a peach of a delivery. Fans loved it as the video went viral on social media platforms.

Speaking of that delivery, it was the third delivery of the match. Naseem Shah opened the bowling for Pakistan. On that delivery, Kusal Mendis came to bat. But, his off stump went blown away by a fantastic in-swinging delivery from Naseem. Mendis had no clue about that as he failed to add any score to the board.

Meanwhile, Naseem Shah continued his dream run in this year’s Asia Cup. Since his debut against India, he has been instrumental in Pakistan’s success throughout the tournament. Now, with this dismissal, he has grabbed seven wickets so far in this tournament. On the other end, Kusal Mendis’ journey in the Asia Cup ended with 155 runs in six matches.

Ahead of this match, Sri Lanka had a good game against the Men in Green on 9 September 2022. In that match, Pakistan batters failed miserably while batting first. They got bundled out for 121 runs in 19.1 overs. In response, Sri Lanka chased the target down in just 17 overs. Hasaranga was the player of the match as he picked up three wickets. Even, while chasing, Nissanka scored 55* runs off 48 balls, including five fours and one six.
