After losses, criticisms, getting back to winning ways, and a stroke of luck, Pakistan have qualified for the final of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. For the first time after 2009, the team will be playing in the final of the tournament. 13 years ago, they won by beating Sri Lanka in the final. On the other hand, England will be playing in the final for the third time since 2010.
12 years ago, they won the final while losing to the West Indies in 2016. Meanwhile, ahead of the 2022 title clash, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairperson Ramiz Raja met the players in the dressing room. During the interaction, he congratulated the team for the fightback in the tournament. The 1992 World Cup winner insisted the team to enjoy themselves.
“Congratulations to the Men in Green; this was an incredible fight back, an incredible comeback; you should be proud of yourself. This happened because of unity; if you are united, everything is achievable. Whatever happens, you give your 100 percent,” said Ramiz Raja.
Imran Khan told us that this moment won’t come back: Ramiz Raja
The former Pakistan skipper further spoke about the speech given by Imran Khan ahead of 1992 final. Raja revealed that Khan told the players that this moment might not come again and how the latter asked the players to enjoy themselves.
“Go out there and enjoy; we had the shortest World Cup final speech. As we went outside the stadium, there were 90000 fans, and Imran Khan was the captain; he said that this is probably never gonna happen again in our career, so just go out there and enjoy.” he maintained.
“Don’t second guess yourself, don’t say that only I am ready for this moment, everybody is ready for this moment, go and enjoy the atmosphere, every moment is important as it will not repeat itself. Just relax, stay confident, keep your body language strong, and you will achieve your destiny.”
