On 28 September 2022, India took on South Africa in the first T20I of the three-match series in Thiruvananthapuram. Ahead of the 20-20 World Cup, India were looking to continue their momentum by kicking off this series with a start. However, they did not disappoint their fans as India won the match convincingly.

Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first after winning the toss. South Africa scored only 106 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. But, during that inning, Virat Kohli and Surykumar Yadav advised Rohit Sharma to take a DRS call. But, the decision did not go in their favour. Then, both Virat and Suryakumar Yadav came up with some unique reactions as the video went viral.

Speaking of the video, Aiden Markram was batting for the Proteas. Arshdeep Singh came to bowl his third consecutive and the sixth over of the inning. He managed to beat Markram’s outside edge off the third ball. But, Rishabh Pant and Arsdeep did not appeal as they thought that it was close only. 

But, Rohit Sharma went for the DRS call. Ravi Shastri was doing the commentary and he pointed out that Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav insisted on the Indian skipper for the review. But, as the decision did not go in favour of India, Rohit Sharma was not looking happy at all. But, Virat and Surya shared some cheeky reactions when the decision came up on the board.

Speaking of the match, South Africa scored 106 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs while batting first. Arshdeep Singh took three wickets for 32 runs in four overs. In reply, India managed to chase it down with 20 balls to spare. Suryakumar Yadav remained not out on 50 runs off 33 balls, including five fours and three sixes. Along with him, KL Rahul also scored a fifty as India won the series opener by eight wickets.
