Watch: Ruturaj Gaikwad hits seven sixes in one over to reach his double hundred

In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022, Maharasthra’s skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his maiden double hundred in List A cricket. Also, he became the second player after Tamil Nadu’s Narayan Jagadeeshan to score a double hundred in the tournament. Meanwhile, Gaikwad did something which will be remembered for a long time. Apparently, the right-hander hit seven sixes to reach the landmark.

In a video that is going viral, the Chennai player in the Indian T20 League hit seven sixes in the penultimate over of the first innings. At that stage, Maharashtra has scored 272/5 with Ruturaj batting on 165. In this over, the right-hander hit seven sixes as the bowler bowled a no-ball. Gaikwad didn’t just slog the ball but hit proper cricketing shots.

Notably, he has joined the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, Ravi Shastri, Sir Garfield Sobers, etc who hit six sixes in an over.

Talking about the game, Maharashtra amassed 330/5 with the skipper scoring 220 not out. In reply, Uttar Pradesh has amassed 61/1 in 12 overs at the time of writing. Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad was retained by Chennai for the Indian T20 League 2023. Notably, he didn’t have the greatest of seasons with the bat early this year after winning the Orange Cap in 2021.
