The Zimbabwe vs Pakistan game was a must-win game for both teams. On one hand, the Southern African team had only one point to their kitty, courtesy of a washed-out game against South Africa. On the other hand, the 2009 winner lost their first game against their arch-rivals, India. Talking about the game, the Red Army rose from the Ashes and won by one run.

This loss is the agonizing one for the former champions as they might have been kicked out of the semifinal race. Meanwhile, a video from the game has surfaced on social media. The video features the vice-captain of Pakistan, Shadab Khan, who was on his knees. It is understood that the leggie was distraught after his side lost the game on such a small margin.

Notably, the game changed in the favor of Zimbabweafter the fall of Khan’s wicket. At that moment, the Green Brigade had seven wickets in hand and needed to score 43 runs in about 38-39 balls. However, Khan tried to hit a six-over long-off against Sikandar Raza but was caught. After this, Pakistan lost some key wickets at a such crucial juncture which proved costly in the end

After the game, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam said “Very disappointing performance in my team. We were not up to the mark in the batting. We had a bad first six overs, but Shadab and Shan built a partnership but unfortunately Shadab out and then back to back wickets and pressure built on the batting. First six overs we are not using the new ball good. Later on we finished well. We’ll sit together and learn from our mistakes and come back hard next match.”

Now, Pakistan needs a few results to go their way to keep their semis hopes alive. Notably, Pakistan’s current situation has given Indian fans a Deja Vu. Last year, India faced the same situation after losing to Pakistan and New Zealand.
