Pakistan are facing criticism for facing a humiliating defeat against England in the second Test that kicked off on December 9, Friday at Multan. Much to the surprise of the Pakistani fans, the winning margin for England was just 26 runs and the Babar Azam-led team came very close to clinching a win on the back of Saud Shakeel’s 90.

Pakistan’s skipper Babar eventually faced criticism from the press and fans on social media. Post the conclusion of the match, the Pakistani captain faced a tough question from one of the reporters who claimed that the fans wanted Babar and Mohammad Rizwan to focus only on T20Is and not on the longest format of the game.

Anguished by the same, Babar questioned the reporter if he and his teammate should quit playing in the longest format of the game. Notably, the duo has been receiving hatred for their low strike rate in the T20Is and the 50-over format.

“Babar yeh fans k taraf se ek sawal hai, unka kehna tha Babar aur Rizwan jo hain, unko apna focus T20 pe karna chahiye, kyuki jaise woh out hote hain puri team down ho jati hain (This question is from the fans, who feel that Babar and Rizwan should focus in T20s. As they get out the rest of the team crumbles,)” the reporter asked Babar.

I’m not thinking anything like that: Babar Azam

It remains to be seen if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) would come up with a change on the back of their continued poor run in the Test format. Given that Babar has been leading the side for a while, it remains to be seen if they would come up with a leadership change.

“Toh aap keh rahe hain Test chhor de? (So you are saying, we should stop playing Test?)” Babar said in reply. However, the reporter was quick enough to revert back and asked for Babar’s opinion on continuing in the T20I format alone. “Sir, aisa kuch nahi soch rahe hum (Sir I’m not thinking anything like that,)” said the Pakistan skipper in reply.
