Sourav Ganguly has recently been ousted as the Indian Cricket Board president. He worked at the position from late 2019 and was expected to get an extension up until recently. Now, things have changed drastically and Ganguly is set to be replace by Roger Binny. The latter is the 1983 World Cup winner and has served the board as the national selector.

Binny also the administrative experience after working with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Meanwhile, the recently departed, Ganguly was at an event where a video of him commentating in a 2014 Test match England and India. In the video, Stuart Binny was bowling. After watching the video, Ganguly remarked “By the way, that Binny is not Roger Binny. That’s Stuart Binny,” Ganguly said during an event organized by a renowned bank. This comment made the audiences laugh

The anchor, too, joined on the banter. “Very important point to make, especially on this day,” he said.

Earlier in the event, the ‘Prince of Kolkata’ also opened up on his recent departure from the coveted post. He remarked that no one can play the game forever and also can’t be an administrator forever. The left-hander said that it was fun getting to see both sides of the coin. Sourav also touched upon the decision he took during his tenure.

“You can’t play forever. You can’t be an administrator forever, but it’s been fun doing both and seeing both sides of the coin. I will go for bigger things in future,” Ganguly said on the sidelines of an event.

“I was a cricketer’s administrator. Yes you had to make decisions because there’s so much cricket happening, there’s so much money around. There’s women’s cricket, there’s domestic cricket. Yes you had to take calls at times as an individual,” he added.

The election for the new president of the cricket board will be held on October 18. However, it is reported that it is a mere formality.
