 Watch: Sri Lanka all-rounder picks first-ever hat-trick in Lanka Premier League

In just the second game of the ongoing Lanka Premier League, Sri Lanka all-rounder, Wanindu Hasaranga took a hat-trick. While playing for Kandy Falcons, he took the wickets of Dinesh Chadimal, Benny Howell, and Seekkuge Prasanna in the seventh over. In total, the Falcons skipper took four wickets that included the wicket of his national teammate, Angelo Matthews.

Notably, this is the first-ever hat trick in the history of the tournament that started in 2020. In the first two seasons, no bowler could do so. Also, this is his second T20 hat trick. The first one came during the 20-20 World Cup 2021 against South Africa in Sharjah. Meanwhile, his recent hat trick has become the talk of the town and the video of it is going viral on the internet.

Talking about the game, the Hasaranga-led Falcons batted first and amassed 199/1, thanks to Pathum Nissanka (71) and Andre Fletcher (102*). In reply, thanks to Hasaranga’s hat-trick, Colombo Stars were restricted to 90 all-out, losing the game by 109 runs. After the game, De Silva said “I’m really happy how everything went in my first game as captain. Credit to our batters especially.

Talking about the hat trick, he said “That was my second T20 hat-trick, I’m really happy. That’s what leg spinners can do, and I think they can change the game at any time. He has become captain of an LPL team for the first time. On the question of leading the team, he said “Yes I wanted more responsibility, and experience in handling pressure situations. That’s why I chose the Kandy captaincy. I always try to do my best for my team regardless of what role I play.”
