Former Australia skipper Steve Smith was one of the only batters who had the answers to a difficult Gabba pitch in the first Test against South Africa. In the first innings of the game, he scored 36 runs and stitched an important partnership of 117 runs with Travis Head. Meanwhile, during his innings, he got hit around the abdomen area.

After this, he was hilariously caught on the mic saying “Have some of that, Smudge!”. The incident happened in the 18th over of the home side’s first innings bowled by Anrich Nortje. Notably, that kind of stuff is said by the opposition bowlers and fielders. However, the former Australia skipper decided to turn the tables and sledged himself. The video of the entire incident is going viral.

Talking about the game, the first Test between the two teams ended n just two days with 34 wickets falling. Batting first, the Proteas were bowled out for 152. In reply, the Kangaroos amassed 2018 all-out, leading the game by 66 runs. In the second innings, the visitors were folded for 99 runs, setting a target of 34 runs. Australia, in reply, chased down the total after losing four wickets.

After the game, the fans criticized the wicket. In reply, South Africa skipper Dean Elgar said “It was pretty spicy (smiles), if you’re a bowler, you’d be licking your lips by how everything unfolded. Challenging for the batters, no doubt. That is okay if there is a good contest between bat and ball. Obviously, on the flip side, I don’t see it was that way really.”

On the other hand, Australia skipper Pat Cummins said ” I’m a bowler, you’re asking the wrong person (smiles). We had a couple of partnerships, a couple of batters played well. Head almost got a hundred on it. In a way, happy to have ended on the right side of it.”
