Watch: Suryakumar Yadav Reveals How He Dealt With A Major Illness To Make Himself Available For The Third T20I

Ahead of the 20-20 World Cup, India managed to defeat the current World Champions in the shortest format of the game at home. On 25 September 2022, India defeated Australia at a margin of 2-1. However, the series decider was in Hyderabad which went in favour of India, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s 69-run knock. While chasing 187 runs, Suryakumar Yadav came up with a blistering knock against the Aussies.
But, after the match, Yadav revealed his struggles even before that match in an exclusive interview with the Indian Cricket Board. Board also shared the video on Twitter with a caption: “From setting the stage on fire to a special pre-match tale! “Give me any medicine or injection but prepare me for the evening match.” – Suryakumar Yadav
While speaking in that interview, Yadav said that he had some stomach ache before the match. He said: “The weather changed last night and there has been a change in travelling. Because of all this, I had a stomach ache, then got a fever as well, but at the same time I knew that it was a decider game.”
Then, Suryakumar Yadav asked his physio that whatever medicine is there just to provide him and make him fit enough to play the series decider. “So I told my doctor and physio that if there is a World Cup final how will I react? I can’t sit out with illness. So you do whatever it takes, give me any medicine or injection but prepare me for the evening match. And once I’m on the ground in this (India) jersey then there is a different emotion for me.” Suryakumar Yadav concluded.
Speaking of the match, Australi scored 186 runs for seven wickets. But, India managed to chase it down in 19.5 overs with six wickets to spare. Suryakumar Yadav won the player of the match award for his brutal hitting.
