After Men’s T20I Asia Cup 2022 last month in the UAE, Bangladesh is hosting the Women’s version of the tournament. In the tournament, teams such as India, Pakistan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and the UAE are participating in the tournament. Currently, the teams are playing for the top-four spots as the teams will qualify for the semifinal. Meanwhile, Thailand has managed to upset Pakistan in the ongoing tournament.

Stating the obvious, it was expected that Pakistan would win the game easily. After all, the Thai team lacks international exposure. However, as the old proverb in the game says ‘It is a game of uncertainties.’ Thailand proved once again as they registered their first win of the tournament. After the win, the team celebrated wildly. After all, it is a memorable win for them against a big side.

Talking about the game, the Green Brigade batted first after winning the toss. They could only amass 116/5 at the end of the innings. The team batted poorly as they never accelerated while batting. Sidra Ameen scored a painful-looking 64-ball 56. Nida Dar also struggled during her 22-ball 12. Talking about Thailand bowling, Sornnarin Tippoch took two wickets while Thipatcha Putthawong took one. The other bowlers bowled economically which pretty much set the game for the Asian side.

In reply, Natthakan Chantham scored an important 61 runs which led the team to victory by four wickets and one ball to spare. With this loss, Pakistan failed to make a hat-trick of wins in the tournament. They started the tournament with victories against Bangladesh and Malaysia. On the other hand, Thailand lost its first two games to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The team is currently in the fifth spot in the points table and would love to make their maiden appearance in the semi-final. It will be interesting to see how Thailand goes about its business for the rest of the tournament.
