Australia lower middle-order batter Tim David started the business as usual in the ongoing SA20 2023 for MI Cape Town. Notably, he was playing for Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing Big Bash League 2022-23. Now that the team has been knocked out, the former Singapore international has joined the Cape Town-based side. Meanwhile, in the game against Durban Super Giants, David hit the ball out of the ground.

His side, MICT was batting first after losing the toss. In the 12th over of the innings, David played a slog sweep against Keshav Maharaj. The ball went over the square leg boundary and out of the park as the Kingsmead ground is small. The video of the incident has been going viral.

It’s always great to come and see so many friendly faces: Tim David

Ahead of the game, the right-hander spoke about playing with the same franchise that owns the Mumbai team in the Indian T20 League. The owners of MICT also own the five-time winners of the cash-rich league.

“It’s always great to come and see so many friendly faces. You know there’s a lot of backroom staff here at MI Cape Town that I’m friends with and got to know really well in the last ITL season so to be able to get back in and to be able to be made to feel so welcome is really awesome for me,” said David in a media release.

“It’s pretty simple. We need to win a couple of games to make it through the playoffs. So that’s obviously our target. Sometimes results can be hard to control so we have to go back to the process. It is about how we’re going to achieve that. So we’ve had a couple of really good days of training,” he said.
