Watch: Virat Kohli ‘paranoid’ as viral video shows massive privacy breach in his hotel room

Virat Kohli has always had a large fan base. Fans follow him wherever he goes, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite player. However, these fans sometimes tend to go overboard. Something very similar happened with the star cricketer during the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

In a video, a fan, probably management personnel from the team hotel, entered Virat Kohli’s room and lurked around. The video has done rounds on the internet and the former Indian cricketer came across it. He took to Instagram to publish the video and pen down a strongly worded message.

In the message, he made it clear the breach of privacy was unacceptable. He claimed that the incident had made him fearful of his privacy in a setting where he expected some privacy. He concluded by urging fans to not treat players as a “commodity for entertainment”.

“I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them and I’ve always appreciated that. But this video here is appalling and it’s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy,” he wrote.

“If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all?? I’m NOT okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy. Please respect people’s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment,” Virat added.

In the meantime, Virat Kohli has done well so far in the 20-20 World Cup 2022. He has been India’s best performance with the bat in the three matches that they have played. He played a game-changing knock of 82 runs in 53 balls against Pakistan to take his team through.

In the next game against the Netherlands, he partnered up with Suryakumar Yadav and scored yet another half-century to help India get its second win. The Men in Blue lost their last game against South Africa, but they are still in contention to make the semi-finals.
