Over the years, a lot of legendary cricketers have played Golf. The list goes from Kapil Dev to Kevin Pietersen and it goes on. Meanwhile, India’s two World Cup-winning skippers, MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev were recently spotted playing Golf. It was a rare sight for the fans as Dhoni is not known much for playing the sport.

On the other hand, Dev has been playing the sport for the last many years. The duo was playing the sport in the Kapil Dev – Grant Thornton Invitational 2022 event. The 2011 World Cup winner (Dhoni) was invited by Kapil himself. Talking about Dhoni, this is the first time since the Indian T20 League 2022 that he has played a sport. Since the tournament, the former India skipper hasn’t played a sport.

Talking about the event, apart from Dhoni and Dev, players such as Kartik Sharma, Manu Gandas, Sachin Baisoya, Dhruv Sheoran, etc participated. The day started with Dhruv Sheoran emerging as a leader by two shots at 68. The first round was finally completed after a delay due to fading light on September 27. However, Sheoran slipped to fourth on the next day at three-under 141 after a 73 in round two.

Local golfer Kartik Sharma scored a five-under 67 to take a two-shot lead at the halfway stage. Gurugram-based Kartik totaled six-under 138 after round two. Manu Gandas posted a 66 to be placed tied second at four-under 140 along with Delhi’s Sachin Baisoya (68). Talking about India’s World Cup-winning skippers, Dev, and Dhoni, both players led their teams to victory in different ODI World Cups. Dev led the 1983 side to the historical victory. On the other hand, Dhoni managed to repeat the glory in 2011.

To this date, these victories are celebrated in Indian cricket. Not to forget, India is still searching for an ODI World Cup win after 2011. India will host the 2023 World Cup and will look to add a third ODI World Cup title to their kitty.
