India have started their Women’s 20-20 World Cup 2023 campaign well with back-to-back wins against Pakistan and West Indies respectively. First India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in an epic chase of 150 runs as Jemimah Rodrigues played an anchor with an unbeaten knock of 53 runs from 38 balls finishing the game with a boundary. In the second match, the Indian bowlers did a great job by restricting the Windies to 118 for 6 as Deepti Sharma scalped 3 wickets conceding 15 runs. India chased the winning total with 6 wickets and 11 balls remaining powered by the unbeaten 44-run knock-off 32 balls by Richa Ghosh.

India’s next challenge is against England who are also coming with two wins from two games. England have dominated with both bat and ball in the games against West Indies and Ireland and are the table toppers of Group B with a run rate of 2.497. A win against England will help to boost the morale of the Indian team.

However Indian U-19 Women’s team recently defeated England in the U-19 Women’s 20-20 World Cup final to clinch the title. The role of the batters will be crucial in a big contest against England in order to secure a place in the semi-finals, so let’s look at the three Indian batters, who could change the game against England Saint George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.

The young Indian batter is better known for her ability to strike the ball well and hit big shots. The 19-year-old led the young Indian team to the U-19 World Cup victory. Shafali got good starts against Pakistan and the West Indies but couldn’t score big in both games. The Indian opener is a great hitter of the ball and could provide a good start to the Indian innings against England. Shafali has appeared in 53 T20Is for India scoring 1292 runs with a strike rate of 134.16.
