 Women’s Indian T20 League player auction set to be held in second week of February- Reports

Last month, five teams for the inaugural Women’s Indian T20 League were finalized. They were the owners of Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi in the men’s version and two others acquired the rest of the teams. Now, this week, it is reported that the dates for the player auction will be finalized. Some of the players have uploaded screengrabs of registering themselves for the auction on social media.

As per reports, the Indian Cricket Board is looking to arrange the event between February 11 to 13th. If the event is held on the 11th, it might take place in Delhi. On the other hand, if it takes place on the 13th, it makes be held in Mumbai. Notably, the auction was set to take place on February 4. However, the finals of the SA20 and International League T20 will be held on February 11 and 12 respectively.

For the unversed, the majority of the franchise owners in the Men’s Indian T20 League also own a team or two in these leagues. Another reason for the change in plans was the team had limited time to assemble their coaching staff for the player auction. As a result, the franchises submitted a request to the Indian Cricket Board to postpone the auction.

Women’s Indian T20 League to be held in Mumbai

The fans might the 15th season of the Men’s Indian T20 League was played in Mumbai sans the playoff. This year, the inaugural edition of the Women’s version of the cash-rich will be played in Mumbai as well. It is said that the venues will be Brabourn Stadium and the DY Patil Cricket Academy. These two venues will host the entire tournament as it will be played only a few days after the Women’s 20-20 World Cup 2023 which will end on February 26.

This decision will remove the logistic obstacles in the midst of a tight schedule.
