 World Cricket Governing Council announced prize money for the 20-20 World Cup 2022 teams

A little more than two weeks are left at the start of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The home side will be the defending champions having won the tournament last year in the UAE. Talking about the participating teams, 16 teams will play in the tournament. These teams have been divided into two rounds of eight each.

In the first round, these eight teams have been divided into two groups of four each. Group A consists of Namibia, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and the UAE. On the other hand, Group B consists of West Indies, Scotland, Ireland, and Zimbabwe. Talking about the Super 12, teams have been divided into two Groups. In Group one, teams such as Australia, England, New Zealand, and Afghanistan are slotted together.

Two more teams will join them after the first round. On the other hand, Group Two has teams such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and South Africa. Two more teams will join them after the first round.

A total of 56,00,000 USD on stake for the teams

Talking about the prize money, a sum total of 56,00,000 USD (4,56,764,000 INR) is at stake for the teams. This amount will be divided according to the team’s performance after the tournament. Teams that crash out of the first round without a win, the team will get a sum amount from 40,000 USD (INR 32,62,600) to 160,000 USD (1,30,50,400 INR). The amount will depend on the number of wins by a team.

If a team registers a win in the preliminary round, the prize money will range from 40000 USD (INR 32,62,600) to 480,000 USD (INR 39151200). The prize money will also be divided according to the team’s performance in the Super 12 round. A Super 12 exit without a win, they will earn prize money ranging from 70,000 USD (57,09,550 INR) to 560,000 USD (4,56,76,400 INR). On the other hand, Super 12 wins for a team will attract prize money ranging from 40000 USD (32,62,600 INR) to 12,00,000 USD (9,78,78,000 INR).

Talking about the teams qualifying for the knockouts, the prize money will range from 400000 USD (32626000 INR) to 16,00,000 USD (1,30,504,000 INR).
