India number three batter Cheteshwar Pujara has stayed strong despite wickets falling in the ongoing second innings. He came out to bat after Shubman Gill tried to hack the ball but missed it completely to lose his stumps. Meanwhile, the number three batter continues to remain strong and score runs on a difficult and constantly deteriorating wicket. There was a time in his inning when he was batting at a strike rate of over 50.

Meanwhile, in his innings so far, Pujara has hit five fours and rotated the strike whenever the opportunity has arrived. Notably, he is the second half-centurion in the game. In the first innings, Australia’s Usman Khawaja scored a fifty. Also, this is Pujara’s first fifty in the series so far. Meanwhile, Pujara’s inning is giving hope to the Indian team and its fans in extremely an low-scoring game.

So far, no team has been able to score more than 200 runs. In the first innings, the home team won the toss and batted first. They could only manage a paltry total of 109 runs. In reply, the Aussies were going strong at 186/4. However, the likes of Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin ensured that the opposition team lost six wickets for the next 11 runs only.

With a lead of 88 runs, the Steve Smith-led side needed to take quick wickets to restrict India to a low total. At the time of writing, Nathan Lyon has taken another fifer of his Test career. Thanks to this, the home team has lost seven wickets and has only 145 runs on the board. With this, they lead by 57 runs at the time of writing.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Axar Patel are the last recognized batting pair

At the time of writing, Pujara has scored 58 runs and has hit the first six of his innings. On the other hand, Patel is batting at the crease. Both players would love to take the side to at least 150 runs. Anything over 200 runs to chase will be almost impossible for Australia.
