‘100 run toh bana lete kam se kam’ – Fans react as Galle Titans beat B-Love Kandy by 83 runs in LPL 2023

In the fifth match of the fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023, Galle Titans (GT) locked horns with B-Love Kandy at the R.Premadasa Stadium, in Colombo. The Titans won the match by 83 runs and Tim Seifert was awarded the Player of the Match award. He scored 74 runs off 39 balls as he slammed five fours and five sixes each in his innings.
If we talk about the match, the GT skipper, Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bat first. While batting first they scored a total of 180 runs for the loss of five wickets after the completion of the first innings. Except for Seifert, Shakib Al Hassan and Shevon Daniel played notable knocks for their side. For BLK, one wicket each was snapped by Aamer Jamal, Mohammad Hasnain, and Wanindu Hasaranga in their respective spells.

The visitors while chasing a target of 181 runs, were bundled out for 97 runs. The batters like Angelo Mathews, Asif Ali, Dinesh Chandimal, and many others failed to make it count. The highest scorer for their side was Ashen Bandara, who scored 27 runs off 19 balls with one four and two sixes in his innings. For GT, two each were grabbed by Kasun RajithaRichard Ngarava, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Shakib Al Hassan in their respective spells.
“The batting unit on this wicket, they showed how to bat. Seifert and Shakib showed how good they are in this format. They have played all around the globe, they know how to operate. They showed good example. We need to carry forward this momentum. I have struggled in the previous three occasions. I wanted to have good combination. Good to have bench strength,” Shana was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.
“Got off the plane yesterday morning. Nice to grab my feet and feel the conditions. New conditions again, got to reassess again. Tried to keep the momentum going and put pressure on them. Loving it (LPL), great start, great bunch of boys,” Seifert was quoted as saying after recieving the Player of the Match award.
