Ravichandra Ashwin opens up about Rajasthan royals skipper Sanju Samson

Rajasthan royals

There have been a lot of great spinners in the Indian team who have given great performances in every format. One of the best spinners is none other than Ravichandran Ashwin. The 37-year-old spinner is not only known for his great variations but also his deep knowledge of the game. Ashwin has recently become only the second bowler to reach the 500-wicket milestone in the Test series vs England. He is now the second-highest wicket-taker in international cricket with 735 wickets trailing behind the great Anil Kumble.

Ravi Ashwin will most likely play his 100th Test in the 5th Test in Dharamshala. After the series, he will be in the Rajasthan Royals camp for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The wily off-spinner will be playing for the Royals franchise for the 3rd consecutive time where he will play under the leadership of Talented wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson. Ashwin is still one of the most important players in the franchise not only for his exceptional off-spinners but his ability to play some crucial innings with the bat as well.

Ashwin on Sanju Samson

There is no doubt being one of the most experienced players in the squad, Ashwin will be close to making the important decisions on the field. Ashwin has recently opened up about his interaction with the Royals skipper Sanju Samson saying “Sanju is extremely funny off the field. I am not sure a lot of people understand that or probably know that. It’s a problem of perfection a lot of people battle how you see someone on the ground and how they are off it, it’s completely different.”

There were also instances of Ashwin talking about how well-versed Samson is in other languages and how he is comfortable interacting with him. This also gives us a glimpse of Samson as a person as well. It is safe to say that Samson and Ashwin will be the players to watch out for in the league. This statement has made it clear that both these experienced campaigners get along well in the dressing room. The Royals will start their season playing against the Lucknow SuperGiants at home and the fans can’t wait to see it.
