In the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023, Australia beat India by six wickets to win their sixth trophy. Hosts India once again failed to put up a show in the most crucial game of any multinational tournament. After posting a below-par total of 240/10, India failed to put up a show with the ball.

Earlier, Australia skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first. The decision went well with the team, as India lost quick wickets. Opener Shubman Gill was dismissed for a mere four runs by Mitchell Starc. However, after his departure, India skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli added 46 runs for the second wicket. Rohit once again failed to convert a good start into a big knock as he was dismissed by spinner Glenn Maxwell for 47 runs off 31 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes.

After his departure, Shreyas Iyer also went back, as he was dismissed by Starc. However, Kohli, along with wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, added 67 runs in 18.1 overs for the fourth wicket. Kohli, in his inning, scored 54 runs off 63 balls with the help of four boundaries. Meanwhile, Rahul, in his innings, scored 66 runs off 107 balls with the help of a boundary. In the end, the team got bundled up for a below-par total of 240/10 in 50 overs.

Travis Head wins the game for Australia!

While chasing a below-par total of 240 runs, Australia got off to a flying start as they scored 16 runs off Jasprit Bumrah’s first over. However, Bumrah and Mohammed Shami made a comeback as they clinched three back-to-back wickets and left the Aussies in shock. Bumrah dismissed Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith, while Shami dismissed David Warner. However, Travis Head had some other plans.
