5 young bowlers who might rule Indian cricket in the next 10 years
The Indian T20 League 2022 has been the breeding ground for new Indian talents over the years. The league has gifted India with some of the most talented players who have gone on to take the onus of the national team. Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya are some of the names who have made it big in the international arena being products of the cash-rich league.
The Indian T20 League 2022 has brought to the forefront some rare fast bowling talents who might rule Indian cricket in the next ten years. Let us take a look at five such names.
5. Mohsin Khan: Mohsin Khan is a relatively new name in the mainframe of Indian cricket. But he has been impressive in the domestic arena in the last few years. His domestic records are more than impressive, especially in the shortest format of the game. In 32 T20 matches, he has picked up 43 wickets at an impressive average of 17.4. His economic rate has also been impressive at 6.72.
The 2022 season is his debut Indian T20 League season and he has impressed a lot of people in his opening season. In the six matches that he has played, he has picked up 10 wickets in the tournament. He has been very economical giving away runs at the rate of 5.19 runs per over and his average has been a brilliant 10.9. Besides his impressive record, his composure and the maturity to bowl according to match situations has impressed everybody. If nurtured properly he might take the center stage in Indian bowling in the coming years.
4. Avesh Khan: Avesh Khan has been impressing a few people with his exploits in the Indian T20 League for a couple of seasons now. He has been doing a great job in the domestic first-class arena also. In first-class cricket, he has picked up 100 wickets in 27 matches at an average of 23.4 and in domestic T20 cricket he has picked up 83 wickets in 60 matches at an average of 21.0.
In Indian T20 League he has played 35 matches and has picked up 45 wickets in them at an average of 23.1 and has conceded runs at a rate of 8.15 runs per over. He has been impressive with his variations of speed and length and the composure he displays under pressure.
3. Prasidh Krishna: Prasidh Krishna barged into the Indian T20 League scene as a replacement player for Kolkata. Since then, he has been impressive with his death-bowling skills. In his ITL career, he has picked up 43 wickets from 46 matches at an average of 35.7. His economy is slightly on the expensive side at 8.97, but given the fact that he bowls the difficult overs in the match, it is acceptable. What Krishna requires is mentorship and good coaching to become an asset to Indian cricket.
2. Arshdeep Singh: Among some of the big names of Indian cricket and some extravagant performances. Arshdeep has been doing his job consistently and silently. He has been the best death bowler in the Indian T20 League 2022, using his variety to deceive batters and put brakes on the scoring rate of the opposition. In his ITL career, Arshdeep has picked up 36 wickets from 34 matches at an average of 26.8. His economy is an impressive 8.45 and under proper guidance and mentorship, he will be ruling Indian cricket in the upcoming years.
1. Umran Malik: The biggest talk of the town in ITL 2022, as far as pace bowling is considered has been Umran Malik. He has impressed everybody with his sheer pace. He even holds the record for the fastest delivery in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League 2022, clocking 157 kmph in a match. It is also the second-fastest delivery in the history of the tournament. In the first few matches, his control over line and length was a concern but he looked to have rectified himself in the next few matches.
In his ITL career, Malik has picked up 17 wickets from 14 matches at an average of 27.1. His economy is a bit expensive at 8.84, but experts are of the opinion that he is an unpolished diamond. Under proper guidance in proper facilities Malik can be the next big thing in Indian cricket.
