The second match of the Indian T20 League was played between Delhi and Mumbai. Unlike the first match of the tournament, this match went down the wire.
Mumbai was invited to bat first by Rishabh Pant. After getting a good start from the openers Mumbai put up a par total on a pitch favoring the batters. Ishan Kishan was brilliant scoring 81 runs off 48 deliveries and was helped by a cameo from Tilak Varma. Kuldeep Yadav was the star of the Delhi bowling with 3 wickets for 18 runs from 4 overs.
As Delhi came out to chase, they looked in trouble from the very beginning. None of the top-order batters looked settled except Prithvi Shaw who scored 38 runs from 24 deliveries. As Delhi looked down and out a brilliant turnaround was started by Shardul Thakur and Lalit Yadav. Thakur went out scoring 22 runs form 11 deliveries. But Lalit Yadav kept his nerves together and took the team to victory. Axar Patel played a brilliant cameo alongside Lalit Yadav. Lalit Yadav scored 48 runs off 38 deliveries and Patel scored 38 runs from 17 deliveries.
