The 34th match of the Indian T20 league 2022 has become the talk of the town because of the last over no-ball controversy. The match was a run-fest in which Rajasthan batted first and posted a total of 222 runs on the board. Delhi while chasing the target found themselves requiring 36 runs off the last six balls.

As Rovman Powell slammed two sixes off the first two deliveries of the final over, it was the third ball of the over that saw some unpleasant scenes on the field. Bowler Obed McCoy bowled a waist height full toss that was slammed for a six by Powell, but the umpire did not call a very evident no-ball. This infuriated the Delhi camp and the skipper Rishabh Pant was looking to call off his players. He also sent the assistant coach Parvin Amre on the field to argue their case. The match ultimately resumed and Delhi lost the competition by 15 runs.

However, the action from the Delhi camp has led the tournament authorities to fine the individuals involved. Rishabh Pant, Shardul Thakur and Pravin Amre have been fined heavily, while Amre has also been banned for a match.

The Indian T20 League gave a press release on the matter which said – “Delhi captain Rishabh Pant has been fined 100 percent of his match fee for breaching the Indian T20 League’s (ITL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.”

“Mr. Pant admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.7 of the ITL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,”- the release stated on Pant’s punishment.

Shardul Thakur was fined 50 percent of his match fee. His development was stated as “Mr. Thakur admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.8 of the ITL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.”

The punishment for the team’s assistant coach Pravin Amre was heavier as he has been fined 100 percent of his match fee and was also has been banned for a match in the tournament.

“Mr. Amre admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.2 of the ITL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,”- the release read.
