Australia locked horns with Tunisia in what was a must-win game in Group B at the Al Janoub Stadium. Talking about both teams, the Aussies were smashed by the defending champions, France. On the other hand, the North African side played a goalless draw against Denmark. Coming to this game, the Socceroos had the ball possession of only 42 percent.

However, they managed to sneak the match-winning goal in the 23rd minute. Mitchell Duke was the man of the hour as he scored via a header. Even though there were two missed chances in the corner kicks, four saves in the defense proved to be viral. Talking about Tunisia, they were guilty of three offsides, and as many players were shown Yellow cards.

In the end, the Kangaroos won the game by 1-0. With this win, they have kept themselves alive for the Round of 16. They would need to win against Denmark on November 30 to qualify for the knockouts.

This is Australia’s first win in FIFA World Cup after 2010

Notably, this is Australia’s first win in the World Cup after 2010. 12 years ago, they beat Serbia in the tournament that was played in South Africa. Also, in that tournament, the home team crashed out in the first round. In the ongoing tournament, the home team Qatar has crashed out after losing two out of three games already. Meanwhile, the Aussies would be hoping to reach the second round which will be a massive achievement for them.
