Former India skipper Virat Kohli is nearing Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI hundreds. At this point, the latter is at the top with 49 tons in the format. On the other hand, Kohli recently reached his 45th and is only five more away from making history. While the Delhi player is looking set to break Sachin’s one record, there is another record that is difficult to break.

In other words, Tendulkar has played 200 Tests, the highest by any player in the world. At this point, only James Anderson (177) looks a bit close to breaking this particular. Meanwhile, Virat’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma has asserted that his pupil can play 200 Tests moving forward. Currently, he has played 104 games and needs to play 96 games more. Also, the right-hander is 34 years old which makes it difficult.

Meanwhile, Sharma has explained how his student can play complete playing 200 Tests in the next few years. The former mentioned that if the Indian team plays at least three five-match series every year, the feat might be achieved. Rajkumar added that his student has a lot hunger in him.

“India will have to play at least three series of five matches each every year. Also, he (Kohli) will have to play for another 6 years, which I feel won’t be that difficult for him. The way he is playing and the kind of hunger he has displayed, I do believe he should play on a few years.”

Virat Kohli would only play till he can give his 100 percent: Rajkumar Yadav

However, Kohli’s childhood coach also mentioned that the 34-year-old will keep playing only till he can give his 100 percent. Not to forget, even the 2008 U19 World Cup winner has maintained the same over the years.

“He would want to keep playing as long as he feels he can contribute 100 percent to the team. If his level drops below even by 10 percent, he would not want to continue because he is very committed to the team’s cause, which comes first for him.”
