Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are one of the greatest players in the current Indian cricket setup. Even though there is a stark difference between the two in Test cricket, both have the ability to score big and take the game away. Meanwhile, Kohli has been searching for a big score in red-ball cricket. On the other hand, Sharma is nearing his hundred on the ongoing Day two of the first Test against Australia.

Meanwhile, the India skipper scored 56 not out before the end of Day One. After the day’s play, former Australia player Mark Waugh made an interesting comparison between Rohit and Virat. The Aussie started by saying that the Mumbaikar, Rohit is the key to Indian batting. The former pointed out that Rohit is a good player of spin bowling and scores quickly.

“Rohit Sharma is the key to the Indian batting. He is a very good player of spin. He has scored so quickly, that’s the thing,” Waugh said on Star Sports after Rohit remained unbeaten on 56 at stumps on Day 1, trailing Australia by only 100 runs.

On the other hand, Waugh opined that Kohli is different from Rohit. The 1999 World Cup winner said that Kohli likes to take his time at the crease. Also, Waugh added that Rohit looked like a player who can take the game away from Australia in the ongoing game.

“You look at the rest of Indian players, I think Kohli sort of digs in and takes his time but Sharma is one guy who can take the game away from Australia quite quickly. He looked like a different player who was batting on a different surface. It was a classy innings,” he added.

Meanwhile, both Virat and Rohit are batting at the crease as India lost the wickets of Ravichandran Ashwin and Cheteshwar Pujara. After the first session of Day Two, the home team has reached 151/3, trailing by 26 runs.
