Rohit Sharma is an international cricketer who captains the Indian National Team and the Indian Premier League team Mumbai Indians. He is a right-handed opening batter who started his career in the middle order and bowls right-arm off-break. He was born on April 30, 1987, in Bansod, Nagpur to Purnima Sharma and Gurunath Sharma. His father worked as the caretaker of a transport firm and due to lack of financial resources, Rohit was brought up in his grandparents’ house in Borivali. Furthermore, he has a younger brother named Vishal Sharma. He got married to Ritika Sajdeh in 2015 and the couple has a beautiful daughter named Samaira Sharma.

Rohit is known for his aggressive batting style and has garnered a lot of accolades in his illustrious career so far. Obviously, his breathtaking innings of 264 which is the highest individual score in ODIs has been one of the main highlights of his career. Not to forget, he has led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles, becoming the first captain to do so. MS Dhoni equalled his record only in 2023. Rohit made his international debut on June 23, 2007, in an ODI against Ireland. However, he was playing in the middle order which did not allow him to bat on his debut. Rohit rose to prominence only after 2013 when he formed an iconic opening partnership with Shikhar Dhawan in the Champions Trophy.
He made his Test debut in November 2017 and scored 177, the second-highest score on Test debut by any Indian. He made his debut in T20Is in the T20 World Cup of 2007 and was a part of the World Cup-winning team. When MS Dhoni stepped down from captaincy in 2017, Rohit was named the vice-captain of the team. Furthermore, he replaced Virat Kohli as the T20I skipper in 2021 and in 2022. In addition to this, he was given the charge of captaincy in all formats of the game following Virat Kohli’s step-down.
