Virat Kohli recently received unexpected support from the match referee Richard Ketlleborough as he scored yet another magnificent century against Bangladesh and his first in the ODI World Cup 2023. Virat Kohli saw unwavering support from both KL Rahul and the umpire to score his first triple-digit in the World Cup 2023.

Kohli was just three runs away from his century, while India needed two runs to win their 4th game of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. Bangladesh’s left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed bowled the delivery, while it looked like a wide ball, the umpire Richard refused to acknowledge it as wide and declared it as a regular dot ball.

Fans all across the world appreciate Richard Ketlleborough for helping Virat Kohli score his century while some fans have also criticized the empire for being biased and not giving the appropriate decision as he should have as he stands in an unbiased position.

As of now, India has remained unbeaten in the 4 matches they have played in the World Cup against Australia, Afghanistan Pakistan and Bangladesh. India will play their next match of the ODI World Cup against New Zealand on 22 October in Dharamshala. It will be an interesting contest since India has not defeated New Zealand in any major Cricket tournament in the past 20 years.

Virat Kohli on scoring a century against Bangladesh in ODI World Cup 2023

“I just wanted to finish the game off this time around and hang on till the end which is what I have done over the years for the team. I was telling Shubman, even if you dream about a situation like that, you’ll just go back to sleep, you won’t think it’s real. It was a dream start for me, first four balls, two free-hits, a six and a four. Just calms you down gets you into the innings. The pitch was pretty good and it allowed me to play my game – just time the ball, hit the gaps, run hard and get the boundaries whenever needed”, said Virat Kohli after being awarded as the player of the match.
