Watch: Glenn Maxwell showcases brilliant athleticism by taking one-handed screamer

Glenn Maxwell is one of the best all-rounders in the modern-day game. He is known for changing the course of the match with his power-hitting abilities in the middle-order and is also a handy bowler who can provide vital breakthroughs with his off-break.

Apart from his batting and bowling abilities, Glenn Maxwell is also considered a very good fielder, having one of the safest pair of hands. He once again proved his mettle on the field during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL).

This happened during the 16th over of the first innings of the BBL game between the Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. On the penultimate delivery of the over, pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile had bowled a length delivery as batter Sam Heazlett looked to clear mid-off and long-off. Even though he had timed the ball with brute force, he could not get the desired result as Glenn Maxwell, who was stationed at mid-on showed a great presence of mind by timing his jump to perfection and pulling off a one-handed screamer. Things did not end there as Glenn Maxwell played an instrumental role in winning the match for the Melbourne-based franchise with the bat. After restricting Brisbane Heat to 149/6 from their 20 overs, Maxwell, who had opened the innings for the Stars, scored a 30-ball 37 at a strike rate of 123.33, including four boundaries. He and opening partner Joe Clarke (62) helped Melbourne Stars get off to a brisk start. The duo was involved in a 104-run opening stand.

After their respective dismissals, Marcus Stoinis (29*) and Hilton Cartwright (16*) then added finishing touches as the hosts got over the line by eight wickets and more than six overs to spare.
