‘I think we’ll get close to a full-strength squad’ – Pat Cummins ahead of Australia’s tour to Pakistan

The Australian team is all set to travel to Pakistan in March. It is to be noted that they haven’t toured the Asian nation since 1989. This tour, set to be played between March 3 to April 5, is going to consist of three Tests, three ODIs and a one-off T20I.
However, there were a few question marks regarding the availability of a few players due to the potential security threats. However, in what comes as promising news, Pat Cummins recently said that the Aussies will have “close to a full squad”.
He also said that they have received a lot of information with respect to the pre-tour security work, and said that they were really impressive. While mentioning that there were a few players who were keen on getting more information, Australia’s Test captain stated that everyone was excited. However, he also said that there is more work to be done for the tour to go ahead.

“I think we’ll get close to a full-strength squad. There is still a little bit of work to do. We have received a lot of information and it has been great. All the pre-tour security and biosecurity work has been done and it’s been fantastic,” said Pat Cummins, as quoted by India Today.
“There are a couple of players still keen to get a bit more information but everyone is really pumped and feeling relatively comfortable. If anyone doesn’t make the tour it is absolutely okay, we will back them for sure,” he added.
However, Josh Hazlewood later stated that there might be some concerns from the players regarding travelling to Pakistan. He also said that he wouldn’t be surprised if a few players don’t participate in this tour. Thus, it is yet to be seen if all the Aussie players agree to travel to the Asian nation.
“There’s a lot of things in place and there’s been a lot of work in the background by CA and the ACA. So the trust is quite high there from the players, but there’d certainly be some concerns from the players and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them didn’t make the tour,” said Josh Hazlewood.
