Rashid Khan to feature in PSL final? Here’s what Qalandars’ stalwart has to say
According to the reports, Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan might return to play the Pakistan Super League. Khan played for Lahore Qalandars in the ongoing season before leaving for national duty. Afghanistan is playing a three-match ODI and two-match series against Bangladesh which forced Rashid to leave the PSL.
Khan played nine games for Lahore and took 13 wickets. Post his departure, Australian leggie Fawad Ahmed was named his replacement. However, Ahmed played one game, which was the last round-robin game against Peshawar Zalmi. Apart from him, Samit Patel has taken over the role of the lead spinner in the team. Qalandars made it to the final after beating Islamabad United in the Qualifier Two on February 25.
They had lost to defending champions Multan Sultans in the Qualifier One and will take on same opposition in the final on February 27. Meanwhile, a source has claimed that Rashid will be available for the final. The COVID-19 protocols for the league suggest that the 23-year-old will need a negative PCR tests after landing in Pakistan to play the game.
Meanwhile, the fans of Lahore Qalandars were jubilant after the development. However, their excitement was short lived as Rashid Khan confirmed that he won’t be participating in the PSL final. Rashid took to Twitter to confirm the same and said he is on a national duty and won’t play the final. However, he wished Shaheen Afridi luck for the final.
