‘A loud shout out to all the groundmen for the work’ – Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma laud ground staff for their efforts during rain-marred clash against Pakistan

India and Pakistan locked horns on 10 September at R. Premadasa stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka which got abandoned due to heavy rains, the game continued on the allotted reserve day on 11th September which also experienced few showers during the beginning and towards the middle after the commencement of the second innings. 

The Sri Lankan groundmen did a fabulous job in putting the covers on time to protect the field from heavy rains that could have created multiple puddles on the field which could have caused a few injuries. However, time and again, the groundmen brought the covers, even if they anticipated drizzle and not heavy downpour to protect the field and pitch in advance. The valuable efforts of the groundmen is being widely appreciated and especially by the Indian cricket team. 

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli praise Sri Lankan groundmen

During the post match ceremony, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma appreciated the groundmen for their valuable job, Virat also called their efforts to be one of the highest possibilities for the game to have happened. After the match, KL Rahul posted a story on his social media accounts while thanking the groundmen and support staff for their contribution. 

“A loud shout out to all the groundmen for the work they have put in to make this game possible. They did a fantastic job,” said Virat Kohli. ”We are happy to get some game time. Lot of guys did not have game time, and that was great support from the groundmen as well. From the get-go, they were right on the money. I know how difficult it was to come and do the job, and do it the next day. We would like to thank them as a team. It was important to get some game time. It was more possible due to these guys who have put in the effort,” said Rohit Sharma.
