AB de Villiers gave his opinion on the future of senior batters of India in T20Is. The former South African cricketer felt that the future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma depends upon how hungry they are to play the format. De Villiers was someone who retired early in international cricket, like most of his teammates and former cricketers of South Africa.

But considering the retirement of Indians in cricket, De Villiers felt that everything depended on the hunger of the star cricketers. “We just have to see them there (Rohit & Virat). It’s all about their hunger. Do they have the hunger to go there and win the T20 World Cup? I think so. I cannot speak on their behalf, but I think they will want to go there and win,” said De Villiers.

The former South African batter discussed about the future and present of Indian cricket on his YouTube channel. De Villiers felt that Rohit and Virat would want to play in the T20 World Cup 2024 in an attempt to win it. De Villiers believed that since the T20 World Cup is a short tournament, Virat and Rohit might end up participating in it.

I do see them going there – AB de Villiers

“T20 World Cup is a short tournament and you do set yourselves up to have another chance of winning a World Cup. So, I do see them going there,” added De Villiers. The former cricketer further spoke about the responsibility of Suryakumar Yadav of leading India in the recent T20I series against South Africa and Australia. De Villiers felt that it was a nice move and said he liked it.

De Villiers praised the batsmanship of Yadav, which is quite similar to that of himself. De Villiers added that Yadav is a 360-degree player and thinks differently. He added that Yadav thinks creatively. De Villiers felt that it would be nice to see Yadav lead the Indian side in the upcoming days. Rohit and Virat have not played a T20I in more than 13 months.
