Indian cricket team is gearing up for the hectic season ahead. The men in blue are getting ready for the 2023 Asia Cup which starts on 30th August. Fans of the Indian cricket team are now waiting with bated breath for the team that could take the field for World Cup 2023. Virat Kohli, is that one player who will be looked at closely during the big event. The 34-year-old is expected to lead the batting line for India along with Rohit Sharma. One of the biggest debates that has been taking place recently is the batting position of the former Indian skipper.

Former South African batting legend, AB De Villiers has seen Kohli from close quarters. Both the players have spent years playing with and against Each other. The two have bonded and developed their friendship during their time together with RCB in IPL.

‘Virat Kohli is the perfect number 4’ – AB De Villiers

AB De Villiers was recently seen on his YouTube Channel where he gave Virat Kohli’s best batting position. AB De Villiers was heard saying “Virat Kohli is the perfect number 4” Virat Kohli has always batted at number 3 for India in the ODI format for the last decade.Kohli has batted at number 4 for India in the test match format since the retirement of Sachin Tendulkar. The former Indian skipper has performed well in the number 4 position in the longest format of the game.

Ambati Rayudu was touted as number 4 for India during the 2019 ODI World Cup. The position though saw quite a few batters play during the course of the tournament. Since the last four years, the Indian team has continued their search for a proper number 4. Shreyas Iyer has been looked at to bat at number 4 for India during the Asia Cup. Shreyas Iyer though has had dodgy fitness in recent times. In case of such a scenario, Virat Kohli could be looked to bat at the spot. Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri too has suggested Kohli to go down a spot and bat at number four. The idea behind such a move is better batting balance and someone who can take the game away from the opposition.
