‘Ab England fans television par royenge’ – Fans react to Steve Smith becoming quickest to hit 32 Test hundreds
Australia Test Vice-captain Steve Smith has reached his 32nd Test hundred in the ongoing second Test of the Ashes 2023. Once again after the 2015 Ashes, he scored a hundred at Lord’s. For the unversed, he scored a double hundred and his name was etched in the Lord’s Cricket Board. In the 2019 Ashes, Smith got injured on his way to 92. Thanks to the concussion he sustained after getting hit against Jofra Archer, he was ruled out of the next game.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing game, the former skipper continued his dream at this ground. After the openers, David Warner and Usman Khawaja provided a strong start, Smith start his innings with a healthy strike rate. Even though he slowed down a bit after the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne, Smith picked up his pace again in the end overs of Day One.
On the ongoing second day, Smith reached his 32nd hundred in his 99th game. With this, he became the quickest to hit 32 Test hundreds.

He would have had 42 centuries by now if he hadn't been suspended for a year following Sandpaper Gate.

Talking about the game, the home team won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision proved wrong as Warner and Khawaja put together 73 runs for the first wicket. The latter lost his wicket thanks to his misjudgment of the line as he left the ball to hit the stumps. Warner, on the other hand, scored his first fifty in England after 2015.
Travis Head, who has been in good form in the last few months, scored a counter-attacking half-century. In the end, the World Test Championship 2023 winners ended up getting 416 all-out. In reply, England has scored 91/1 at the time of writing.
