Abu Dhabi T10: Can Andy Flower lead Delhi Bulls to their maiden title ?
Former Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batter Andy Flower is gearing up to coach Delhi Bulls in the upcoming season of the Abu Dhabi T10 league, which is set to begin on November 19. Ever since hanging his boots as a player in international cricket, Flower has predominately been seen in the coaching role.
The southpaw was associated with England team for 12 years in different coaching capacities. Later, he also got involved in franchise T20 cricket in PSL and CPL. The former Zimbabwe player was instrumental in taking England to number one in Test rankings. He was also at the forefront of the Three Lions’ revival in the white-ball formats. By coaching different teams in varied conditions, Flower has a sound knowledge of handling situations.
Now, Flower will bring his huge amount of coaching experience to the T10 league. When quizzed about the tactics he would like to implement in the 10 overs game, the former Zimbabwe player said that the basics remain the same, but admitted the role of captain will be more critical. “The basics are essentially the same for all formats,” Flower said according to Gulf Cricket.
“That makes the captain’s role more critical, and players too will have to think on their feet. Lots of tweaking of strategies are also done in the dugout,” he said.
Delhi Bulls are being led by Dwayne Bravo in the T10 league. Bravo has a plethora of experience under his belt having played for West Indies and several teams in franchise T20 cricket. The Bulls have a nice mix of youth and experience in the squad. Ravi Bopara, Fidel Edwards, Evin Lewis, and Mohammad Nabi are also on the team. The Bulls open their campaign against Northern Warriors at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
