While talking to the Times of India, the pacer said as they had a good World Cup tournament, they are quite confident that they’ll play some good T20 cricket as well. As the T20 World Cup is approaching, the team aims to take full advantage of all the matches they get to play before the World Cup campaign begins.

Naveen said, “Afghanistan are renowned for T20 cricket. Afghanistan are dominant when it comes to T20 cricket. We are high on confidence after a good show in the ODI World Cup. We are sure that we will carry on the same momentum in the upcoming series and later on in the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and US.”

As he mentioned, Afghanistan did have a pretty amazing World Cup tournament in 2023. They won four matches and played some quality Cricket. They managed to finish sixth in the tournament and thus, were qualified for the Champions Trophy 2025. If they continue their lethal game, they will gain a lot of confidence for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

He was there in the Afghanistan squad for the series but was unsure of playing. Thus, he opted out of the series. Afghanistan’s captain, Ibrahim Zadran said they will miss their star spinner but is confident about his other team members.

Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran during the the pre-match press conference, said, “He is not originally fit. We will miss him in the series. We will struggle without Rashid Khan but one should be ready for any kind of situation.”
