Afghanistan name huge squad for three-match T20I series against India

Afghanistan have named a huge squad for the three-match T20I series against India. The squad of Afghanistan includes a whopping 19 players which is huge considering that the tour lasts for about 10 days and includes only 3 T20Is. Afghanistan have also surprised the cricket fans by naming a new captain to lead them. The series will prove to be a good opportunity for Afghanistan to prove themselves against India.
India and Afghanistan will create history when they take on each other in the series. It will be the first-ever bilateral series between the two sides in the T20Is. Otherwise, the two sides only face each other in tournaments like the Asia Cup, ODI World Cup, and the T20 World Cup. For Afghanistan, the match would be a big opportunity to get exposure against a top side.
Over the years, Afghanistan has emerged as a dark horse in the big tournaments. In the ODI WC 2023, they hit it out of the park by defeating many good teams like Sri Lanka, England, and Pakistan. But playing regularly against top teams would make them world-beaters. Fans would love to see it happen. On the other hand, it would be a good opportunity for India to test its players.
Ibrahim Zadran to lead Afghanistan
For India, this will be the last series before they would take part in the T20 WC 2024. Afghanistan have named Ibrahim Zadran as their new captain of the series. The star player would be leading the side having many good players like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Hazratullah Zazai, Rahmat Shah, Ikram Alikhil, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Azmatullah Omarzai, and many others.
Afghanistan also has many other good players in the squad like Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Naveen-Ul-Haq, Noor Ahmad, Karim Janat, Gulbadin Naib, and some other faces who will be playing India for the first time like Qais Ahmad, M Saleem, F Malik, and S Ashraf. Many of these players were part Afghanistan squad of the ODI World Cup 2023 in India.
