Alicia Fox confirms departure from WWE
The former champion of the WWE Divas Alicia Fox has recently confirmed that she is no longer with the promotion for WWE via her Instagram stories. Fox joined the WWE in 2006 at the age of just 20. She made her way to the main roster on the episode of SmackDown on June 13, 2008, after spending a couple of years in FCW. In 2010, she won the Divas Championship becoming the only African-American female to win the title.
Despite not reaching the heights for the rest of her career, Fox remained a vital figure in the Women’s division. After completing her only sporadically since 2017, she stepped away from active competition for good in November. However, she continued making occasional appearances. She last appeared at the Royal Rumble in 2022.
Fox fans got buzzing at the end of her WWE tenure. The 36-year-old has now officially confirmed her exit from WWE through her Insta stories. Despite not being considered the best in-ring talent, Alicia Fox has earned a lot of respect from her peers throughout her career for her contribution to the Women’s division in WWE.
‘I feel like Alicia Fox didn’t get her flowers for the longest time’ – Saraya
Former WWE star Saraya heaped praise on Fox in her recent interview. The AEW star added that she always felt safe wrestling her. Saraya also believes that Alicia Fox didn’t get enough respect from the fans because she was active during the Divas era.
“So I actually posted this recently, but like, I feel like Alicia Fox didn’t get her flowers for the longest time. Because if you look back at her stuff, it’s everything looks aggressive, but she’s safe,” said Saraya as quoted by Sportskeeda.
“All her matches were good. You have to watch them back. Because every time I wrestled her, I felt really, really safe. So I felt like she was very underrated. Also, she was in the Divas era. So if people didn’t give her the chance, and just thought, ‘No, she’s a diva, she could possibly be a good wrestler,’ but no, she was a great wrestler,” she further added.
