KL Rahul and Team India beat South Africa on Thursday in Paarl to win the ODI Series 2-1. During India’s last ODI series two years ago, Rahul and Co. lost all three ODI games in the series. It was a complete team performance as the batters and bowlers put their hands up to help India win the game.

India were asked to bat first after South Africa won the toss on Thursday. Rajat Patidar made his ODI debut as he replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad. The second change for India was Kuldeep Yadav being rested and Washington Sundar coming into the team. South Africa meanwhile came into the game without any change from the previous game.

The two teams now will play the two-match Test Series which is set to begin next week. Rohit Sharma and Temba Bavuma will meet in Centurion during the Boxing Day Test before the final test in Cape Town.

India coast to a commanding series win –

It was a great batting performance as the Indian Cricket Team scored 296 from their 50 thanks to a century by Sanju Samson. The 29-year-old scored his first-ever international century for India on Thursday. Samson scored 108 runs from 114 balls with 3 sixes and 6 fours. Tilak Varma batted well to score his maiden ODI fifty as the pair added 116 runs for the 4th wicket.

Chasing 297 to win, South Africa started well again as Tony De Zorzi yet again went after the Indian bowlers. Reeza Hendricks was out for 19 falling to Arshdeep Singh while Rassie Van Der Dussen was bowled for 2 by Axar Patel. Aiden Markram and Tony De Zorzi got the hosts back into the game with a stand of 65 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Just when the pair was looking dangerous Washington Sundar got the key wicket of Markram for 36. Arshdeep Singh beat De Zorzi for pace when he was out LBW for 81. Avesh Khan and Sundar struck in quick succession to get rid of Heinrich Klaasen and Mulder. Mukesh Kumar then got the big wicket of David Miller for 10 to end South African hopes.

The series win will give the Indian team a huge fillip after the heartbreaking loss in the ODI World Cup final. Despite not having some of their big names the youngsters put their hands up and helped India win the series.

Here’s how the fans reacted –
