The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) proved to be a memorable one for Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun Tendulkar as he made his IPL debut for the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI). However, he did not have a good outing in the matches he played in the IPL 2023. He is currently participating in the ongoing Deodhar Trophy 2023 for the South Zone side.

The 23-year-old recently posted an Instagram story where shared a shirtless mirror selfie, showing his six-pack abs. Former India skipper, Virat Kohli is considered one of the fittest sportspersons in the world, and many Indian cricketers like  KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and now even Arjun has started following the 34-year-old when it comes to fitness.

It is not just about numbers but also about potential. He is 23 and has time to develop: Indian Cricket Board official

Earlier in June 2023, the Indian Cricket Board called Tendulkar for a 20-day camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He plays domestic cricket for the Goa side in first-class cricket. He scored a century in his first match of the Ranji Trophy while playing for Goa in Ranji Trophy last season. Currently, he is participating in the 2023 edition of the Deodhar Trophy where South Zone defeated North Zone very easily in their first match. Although Arjun did not get a chance to play in this match, it is expected that Arjun will get a chance to show his mettle in the upcoming matches.

The youngster made his IPL debut this year where he played only three matches for the Mumbai Indians side. “Arjun already has a Ranji Trophy century. A left-arm pacer who bowls between early and mid 130 kmph and bats left-handed. He brings in variety. It is not just about numbers but also about potential. He is 23 and has time to develop is what this (senior selection) committee thinks. Else, they wouldn’t have picked him. Yes, he only has 12 wickets from seven first-class games but he has shown a certain degree of ability and coaches will work on that,” an Indian Cricket Board official was quoted as saying the rationale behind his selection in IPL 2023.
