Ashes 2021-22: Joe Root walks off gutted after throwing away another good start: Watch
England endured yet another poor outing with the bat in Ashes and were bowled out for a mere 185 in the first inning of the third Test. England’s batting has crumbled in the series. Barring Joe Root and Dawid Malan, none of the batters has had a clue against the Australian bowlers.
England were off to a miserable start and lost both their openers for 13. Dawid Malan and Joe Root once again were left to do the repair work. The duo added 48 runs before Malan departed for 14. However, Joe Root was looked good and solid.
With Root set, England relied their hopes on their skipper to take the team to a safe score. However, Root was dismissed exactly for 50 by Mitchell Starc. Root tried to slash at a delivery which he could have easily left. Unfortunately for him, the ball kissed the outside edge and the catch was easily grasped by Alex Carey. Root was furious with his dismissal and walked off the field gutted.

Australia are in a commanding position at the end of Day 1. The team has scored 61 runs, with the loss of David Warner. Earlier, England made four changes to their playing XI and brought in Zak Crawley, Jonny Bairstow, Mark Wood and Jack Leach. Pat Cummins and Scott Boland were the two changes for Australia.
Meanwhile, the skipper Pat Cummins was once again the chief destroyer and picked up three wickets. He got good support from Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc, who picked up three and two wickets respectively.
